Though it is late, I cannot miss counting my blessings for December.
So, quickly on to my Gratitude List.
1. Dance classes
I never thought that I would teach dance when I learned it. I always thought I would become a professional dancer and perform which I did my whole life till now. I think it is time to take the next step and pass on what I have learned to my next generation. I am very grateful to my Dance teacher Ms. Parvathi Ramachandran for training me with patience.
My Dance classes have picked up from December and I am looking forward to focussing on teaching this year as well.
2. New friends
As we grow older and matured, It is difficult to find good friends. Did you observe? In this new place and new country, I took time to make friendships (Not a hi, bye type but helping each other type). This month and the last month, I have met many people and made new friends - I would say, good friends. I am grateful for this.
3. Zentangle
I tried a new art inspired by my fellow bloggers Raji and Shilpa. This art is different from others as the sky is the only limit to creativity. No two persons can draw the same as everyone thinks differently. It is very relaxing to my mind to draw Zentangles. I might have bored my Instagram and Facebook followers with some initial drawings and I am sorry for that. You know, it's the excitement after all when we start a new hobby :-)
4. Books
I got some time to read good books this month. I enjoyed reading 'Empire' by Devi Yesodharan which is an inspiring Historical fiction. 'Destined' by Rubina is a Romance with a nice concept. Mama Graciela's Secret is a Children's story with moral. Black Peppers is a thriller set in 1700 AD in Kerala. Karna's Celestial Armour is a Mythological Fiction. I am grateful for the opportunity to read many genres and different stories.
5. More time with Kids
Even though it was tough being a judge most of the time when my both sons fight for every small thing, I survived their Christmas holidays. We read some good books, did some crafts together and also did some drawings. We watched some movies too.
My elder one's school will re-open day after tomorrow and I don't want to wake up early again for his school :-( Enjoyed good sleep till 8 am in the mornings in these holidays :-)
So, that was from my side. I hope, you had a great celebration welcoming the new year. Cheer up and Enjoy the coming days :-)
Until next time,

Wonderful, Mahati. I'm so glad that August was a great month for you. Rock on!
ReplyDeleteIs name change due to marriage? If so, marriage certificate needs to be produced while you are applying for renewal. Else, you need at least one Identity proof with the new name to be mentioned. Renewal is almost equal to applying for a fresh passport except that you mention your old passport number in the application. I renewed from Begumpet PSK, let me know if you need any information on renewal. My renewal post is linked in this post.
ReplyDeleteYa heard about Aadhar. But, for a passport, anyway they are not considering it as a sole proof. They need additional proof if aadhar is submitted.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Mahati. I prefer to give directly to individuals or organizations where I can visit directly.
ReplyDeleteYa cover is attention seeker :-) it's just book spot light Francene, not review. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks LuAnn for dropping by.. It's good that your county has low pay option for breakfast and lunch for school going children.
ReplyDeleteI am also looking forward to read interesting posts in SeptemberChallenge from you!
Oh yeah. It's because of giveaway. Thanks for trying again :-)
ReplyDeleteAh I found the comment box. I just think it took a long while to load because of that huge giveaway html.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a quick and easy read!
Mm.. I too enjoy reading romance tweetsmom. Participate in giveaway. Thanks for dropping by
ReplyDeletetrue, I understand Corinne :-) This giveaway is for 700+ books and as days go by, steps increase as it is featuring at least 3 to 4 books a day for a whole month.
ReplyDeletesounds like a lovely book - hope you get lots of entries (it's not really my type of read but I imagine lots of people would enjoy it!) ~ Leanne
ReplyDeleteI support a child through a different organization - it's lovely to know that you can make a difference in the life of a child when we have so many blessings ourselves. ~ Leanne
ReplyDeleteThanks Leanne
ReplyDeleteAkshayapatra is a long term pet project of mine, Mahathi! I am so happy to see you featuring this wonderful initiative. They do a great job!
ReplyDeleteI quite like cross-cultural romances!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading romance...they usually have a happy ending. ♥
ReplyDeleteparticipate in tornado giveaway to win the book :-)
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has never traveled off the North American continent (except in books and blogs) this would be interesting to those who enjoy romance novels.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I've never seen a giveaway with so many steps, Mahati. Sorry but I don't have the patience for that. :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know that Vidya.. Great that you are working with them :-)
ReplyDeleteI too travelled only in India and US Alana. Will be interesting to know other places
ReplyDeleteFunny...I happened to look at my very first post ever just a few days ago (July 2007). There is nothing wrong with simple goals. There is a much better chance you will achieve them and a better chance to increase your happiness, IMO (in my opinion).
ReplyDeleteYour photos are GORGEOUS! I've been to Niagara as well, and took a tour that went behind the falls.
Thanks LuAnn. You are very true about simple goals. I too took a tour to niagara and it's excellent
ReplyDeleteThose are some simple and achievable goals. In the end, if you love what you write, it will come easy. Oh and how funny is it going back to your original posts and seeing just how much you've grown! I've been blogging for 8 years and I can see how much I have changed in my style and my voice --- all an indication of how I've grown.
ReplyDeleteMahathi, if I lived in India, I'm sure I would be printing off these instructions and carrying them around with me until the process was through. Seems like a very thorough post!
ReplyDeleteyes Sanch.. how funny it is to look back to old posts :-)
ReplyDeletemy pleasure, Shalini :-)
ReplyDeleteAh - bottom line always is, do what makes you happy! :)
ReplyDeleteI've only seen two "Bollywood" pictures (I live in the United States) but people are people everywhere - I love my husband of 41 years even though some of his faults can frustrate me. That's because he can say the same about me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Alana. True, no one is perfect. So it works, if couple accepts their imperfections and be happy.
ReplyDeleteGlad that it motivates you Francene. I think, we all in writeTribe group has that in common - we all enjoy blogging and expressing our views
ReplyDeleteI love how you get so much pleasure from these movies - we don't have them in Australia but we do enjoy some "bollywood" when it comes down under - nothing like gorgeous heroes and heroines to brighten your day! ~ Leanne
ReplyDeleteI am a movie buff and enjoy them in various languages. I must look for the movie you mentioned, Mahathi. That cartoon is the cutest!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about why I blog too - I think it's just such a fun thing to do and all the advice about having a "purpose" can ruin that. I agree with the others - just keep writing about the things that make you happy - that's what we all like to read.
ReplyDeleteJust what I needed, Mahati. I remember I had no such problems 10 years ago. Now my passport has expired and I need to change my name as well. Book marking to refer to this. Which passport office did you go to?
ReplyDeleteExtremely important and helpful. I'm bookmarking! Thanks a ton for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYou love them because they're not. But, that goes wrong so often. The woman thinks she can 'save' her husband, but he turns out to be controlling and she's trapped. That's the other side of love.
ReplyDeleteNice review:-) I liked that you summed up what was great about it:-) And hey- always time for a good love story:-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eli.. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love movies and am a sucker for a happy ending. Just love it!
ReplyDeleteThe name is so interesting. Whoever would have thought a few years ago that they'd use 'Bhale Bhale' in the title of a Telugu film? Or did I get the meaning wrong?
ReplyDeleteThanks vinitha
ReplyDeleteThat word is there is Telugu also Corinne. It means different/ special. You might be referring to Hindi?
ReplyDeleteSure Corinne can suggest some good Telugu movies :-)
ReplyDeleteYa..cute one :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to teach children science by involving them in a game. Invisible ink has always intrigued me.
ReplyDeleteIs it? Looks complex for me to think
ReplyDeletePrice might look expensive, but when i saw the kit, i was convinced that it's worth the money. It might be around 16 dollars per kit without a subscription.
ReplyDeletetrue Francene.. even i became a kid exploring flintobox with my child :-)
ReplyDeletewell, this is certainly something interesting... why didnt we have such stuff when we were small :D
ReplyDeleteLooks fun and educational. Wish there had been more of this kind of thing when my kids were younger...or even when I was younger! :O)
ReplyDeleteWe can be kids once again :-) Even i enjoyed exploring the box with my kid.
ReplyDeletemm.. i too fell that, would have been great :-)
ReplyDeleteWish I could understand the language! Nice review! :) Keep reviewing movies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shalini
ReplyDeletemm.. language is sure a barrier LuAnn
ReplyDelete10 years!! Wow. Blogging is fun as we interact and get to know more bloggers. I started my fist blog in 2008. Only last year I learned about blogging communities and the fun through interaction.
ReplyDeleteI liked the way you described your blog, Ramya. Great going. :)
Thanks Vinitha.. Even, i didn't know about blogging groups and communities till last year and I couldn't concentrate on my blog equally in all these years..Few years were lovely with more time to blog and for few years, my blog was just there silent :-)
ReplyDeleteI love mysteries and thrillers , they are a staple on my bookshelf..Thanks for sharing about this one :)
ReplyDeleteIt makes you happy to blog, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteFor me to the main reason is that..I blog because I love to do it, it makes me happy, reallt really happy!
yes Nabanita, it makes me really happy. Sometimes it's a booster and keeps my spirits high.
ReplyDeleteyou certainly enjoy a lot of interesting books - this one sounds quite interesting!
ReplyDeleteMystery is favourite genre Leanne.
ReplyDeleteI wish it gets dubbed in Hindi soon or if it comes with English subtitles, I'll be able to understand it. Nice message.
ReplyDeletenice thought by the way, obviously difficult na to run with heels :-) I too like seeing women in these kind of tough roles - say, detective
ReplyDeleteI started blogging 2 3/4 years ago and have given my views on news every day since. I look forward to finding a subject to write about every morning. The blog has motivated me.
ReplyDeleteThis is where my practical side kicks in I suppose. I saw the cover (which is great btw) and thought, "How could she run in those heels?" *lol* But I do love a book where women find out they are stronger than they think.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leanne. Yes, i agree that it's a fun thing to do and having a purpose can ruin that.
ReplyDeleteMany movies are getting dubbed in Hindi recently. This might get in that list too :-)
ReplyDeleteNice review, Mahathi. No matter how many resources, it is never enough! :)
ReplyDeleteI too love them. Even my book reading interest started with detective novels.. :-)
ReplyDeleteGuess your blogging goals are mine! I write to have fun. No comparison though. I'm just an amateur and I recently celebrated my blog's second birthday.
ReplyDeleteCheers :-) Lets blog and have fun. Congrats for second blog anniversary
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if many can come out of abusive relationships Corinne. It's not as easy as said, thye need support from someone close - friends or parents or colleagues. Few people don't even realize that they are in an abusive relationship and continue suffering.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vidya. True, proper search for a college is an important step for a bright future of students.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to her! I hope many more women would leave abusive relationships and move forward!
ReplyDeletesounds like a fun movie - but we'll never get to see it in Australia :(
ReplyDeleteThanks. Sure Mary, will join.
ReplyDeletetrue tweetsmom
ReplyDeleteya. A fun movie Leanne
ReplyDeleteTrue Corinne and I am enjoying writing more after joining WriteTribe Fb group :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks LuAnn :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, short, sweet and poignant. I hope you will share on Literacy Musing Mondays. Here is th is week's link: http://maryanderingcreatively.com/literacy-musing-mondays-fun-week-giveaway
ReplyDeleteIf I could understand the language, this sounds like a film I would enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Rena. I hope you will likey posts :-)
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me she will go far. Being able to let go will allow her to reach for the stars.
ReplyDeletehow nice if it was true and if she succeeded!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. I remember Kung Foo Fighting, along with everyone on the planet. Biddu's song is still used in various television commercials, so it's kept in front of everyone's mind. What an amazing struggle he had to reach the peak of his career. Just goes to show, we should give everything for what we believe in.
ReplyDeleteyeah Francene.. it's interesting to know about his musical journey
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me of my childhood days. His music was so much ahead of the times. It will be good to read more about his life.
ReplyDeleteYes Corinne, easy giveaway rules :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree mukulika that his music is ahead of our times
ReplyDeleteYes it is! Enter the raffle copter to win the book :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, didnt know it was rooted well in India... Interesting. Nice read:-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that song.. I only knew 'Made in India' song which was very popular at that time here
ReplyDeleteBiddu's music was good. I'd love to read the book. Have entered the giveaway too, Mahathi. This one is short and easy to do! ;)
ReplyDelete"Kung Fu Fighting"? Wow, that takes me back! It's always interesting to hear about the lives of artists and writers. Such a creative bunch! :O)
ReplyDeleteHappy Ganesh Chathurthi to you and your family, Mahathi. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Ganesh Chathurdi to you too Mahathi - I learn new stuff all the time with reading these blogs!
ReplyDeleteYes it's wonderful family time Alana.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with us in the United States. Sounds like a beautiful time. In my culture, we celebrated our New Year Sunday night.
ReplyDeleteThanks Corinne
ReplyDeleteThanks Leanne. It's interesting to know other cultures. I too learn a lot reading other blogs
ReplyDeleteHappy Ganesh Chathurdi, Mahathi! When I was still living with my mother, we had an Indian family down the block, and they would often invite us over for supper, children's birthdays and the like. Thank you for sharing this celebration with us!
ReplyDeleteyes.. concept itself looks interesting LuAnn
ReplyDeleteNot yet Corinne. Even I am interested to read.
ReplyDeletesounds like an interesting (and fairly easy) read Mahathi.
ReplyDeleteyes Leanne
ReplyDeleteI know Rasana already from a novel's critique group on th web: The Internet Writing Workshop. I love her writing and wish her every success.
ReplyDeleteOk, good to hear that Francene. I am yet to read her books.
ReplyDeleteI read the preview on Amazon. Seems like a great read!
ReplyDeletesounds like a fun read - shame I'm a bit old for it but I bet there's heaps of younger girls who would love it!
ReplyDeletetrue tweetsmom
ReplyDeleteSince I left the teenage years a long time ago, will give this one a miss. Indian weddings are always fun to read about, watch or be part of.
ReplyDeleteyes Indian weddings are fun to know about
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your thoughts, Mahathi and I agree with everything. The story is like a wedding episode. I loved the Indian marriage scene described here. :)
ReplyDeleteCheckout my Review of Milan here: http://www.njkinnysblog.com/2015/09/arc-book-review-milan-wedding-story-by.html
Yes Leanne. Hope is the greatest inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a thriller lover so will probably give this one a miss...There was a phase where I loved wedding stories...Now, I guess I'm growing old :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Vidya. I don't why, but i like reading some realistic stories :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch drama expressed in your few words, Mahathi.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on the prompt, Mahathi. I'm cheering for your character!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nikita, loved your detailed review too :-)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like this idealistic story is a bit hard to believe. Simply too good to be true. Life simply doesn't work out like that.
ReplyDeleteSometimes an idealistic story is welcome in these days when excitement is the name of the game. I like your review of the book, Mahathi!
ReplyDeletehe he :-) thanks Francene
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruchi :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat review!
ReplyDeleteTrue.. but, unfortunately, preference for fair complexion is soo much rooted in people's mindsets.
ReplyDeleteIt hurts me more when the aged and the elderlies in the family point out to this aspect because they are expected to be wiser. Cheers to you Ramya for you have taken it in your stride to ignore remarks about the complexion. An individual is definitely more than his/her skin colour.
ReplyDeleteFor Indians, it might not look very interesting as we know all these ceremonies to some extent. But, it might be good for NRIs to know about these. No one is too old for good romantic books Nabanita :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree Anamika that at least elders should think wiser. I hope, that our generation wil give preference to individuality over complexion
ReplyDeleteIt's sickening to see people gaga over skin color. I am glad that you realized that skin has got nothing to do with who you are, Ramya. I had been experiencing the color discriminations since my childhood. I know what you are saying.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vinitha. In India, people can relate to it well
ReplyDeleteWhy should this be so? Everybody is individual in the colour of their hair, their eyes and their skin. Nobody would say, your eyes are brown, therefore you're not attractive. Unfortunately, this prejudice is a hanger on from history. We should all be ashamed. Bless you--you 'are' beautiful.
ReplyDeleteUntil people give importance to personality than looks, it's better to ignore them and move on.
ReplyDeleteIt's a problem as old as time. You would think that such an advanced society could finally move past these foolish prejudices.
ReplyDeleteYou remind me of my friend here. So glad that you ignore such people.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love that song "Kung Fu Fighting!" Who knew it had it's roots in India.. That's such a fun fact.
ReplyDeleteBut, many girls still believe on fair and lovely and other face cream ads.
ReplyDeleteI remember "Kung Fu Fighting"! Sounds like a fascinating book! ♥
ReplyDeleteya problem is old and continuing still.. I hope, people's mindset changes slowly
ReplyDeleteThat sounds as if it would keep little eyes focused and little minds creative.
ReplyDeleteTo check whether a site is legit usually, I follow a simple checklist to see how well they do,
ReplyDelete1) Does the site have a current SSL certificate?
2) Use http://www.whoisxy.com/ to check the whois information and check whether the
contact information matches with the one in the website.
3) In the domain contact details, is there a valid email address.
4) Is there a valid phone number visible, and does it work ?
5) Go through review about them using Unmaskparasites.com and check whether they are scam free.
If I am satisfied with the result then I purchase a small priced article
and if it is delivered safely and promptly then I go to purchase my
desired product. You also can follow the steps that I do...In general,
anyone who is trying to do legitimate business on the web will go out of
their way to try and make it clear that they are legitimate. So if a
site has not even done the bare basics to give customers enough
confidence to buy they're products, then it is almost certainly some
sort of scam.
Yeah Leanne. Had great fun time with kid :-)
ReplyDeleteI remember making these with my kids when they were preschoolers. They had a blast and we made a mess! ♥
ReplyDeleteYes Francene.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm not a artsy or crafty person as well so I can imagine getting this done would have been an accomplishment! Great going
ReplyDeletethoughtful......and something other opinionated minds to think about......
ReplyDeleteYes Suniana. Thanks for dropping by
ReplyDeleteThis looks really nice..! and a different thing to do on a weekend!
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thanks Eli
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering who had more fun with this, Mahathi! :)
ReplyDeleteSo you had seen a few Indian festivals/ celebrations. Thanks LuAnn
ReplyDeleteThanks mimi. We have many festivals to celebrate and new dress is kind of prerequisite :-p
ReplyDeleteHappy Ganesh Chathurth! This sounds like a celebration I should be a part of! :D It looks so beautiful, and what woman doesn't need yet another reason to buy a new dress?? Thank you for sharing this Mahathi!
ReplyDeleteyou guessed it right! i enjoyed it a lot :-p.. couldn't do these kind of activities when i was a kid
ReplyDeleteSeems like a wonderful story. Have you read it, Mahathi?
ReplyDeleteI really agree with this - "to thine own self be true" - you need to trust your conscience and your intuition and go with what feels right every time :)
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the hardest things to do, Mahathi - but utterly soul-satisifying.
ReplyDeleteyes Corinne.. its not very easy
ReplyDeleteYes Leanne.. It's interesting to know about the Indian wedding and pomp and glory of all ceremonies associated with the wedding. Teenage girls might love it
ReplyDeleteYes Orana. We can make many crafts with egg cartons. Currently I have my parent's support in taking care if my kids. Else, it's almost impossible to relax with 2 kids :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! egg cartoons have always been the greatest of crafters. I wish I could spend a weekend reading and sleeping, how do you do it?
ReplyDeleteok. I agree that dystopian is different, not many people's choice.
ReplyDeleteThat looks cool and must have been a fun time spent with children :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good book. I like dystopian--write them too. Chuckle.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...not sure whether I'd really like this. Dystopian is not my reading choice!
ReplyDeleteHm, not sure they are my kind of books, but your review made me a bit curious, I must admit! Well written, and what an author too ... what made her go for writing... Very fascinating:-)
ReplyDeleteGood Francene!.. will be happy to read your book too then :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a sweet story. I do like happy endings! :)
ReplyDeleteYes Eli, interesting book and the earlier book of this series - Ruby Iyer series, have become popular.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an interesting subject. I'm keen on dystopian, having co-written a series myself which is set in England.
ReplyDeleteoh is it? great! I am not very keen on dystopian, but would love to read yours :-)
ReplyDeleteWow that sounds intriguing...:-)
ReplyDeleteYes Eli :-)
ReplyDeleteAnother one of those? ;)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sick how colour still dominates our society! I'm glad you have learned to look at the beauty within you, as we all must learn to do.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting my series today! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely it's difficult to live without freedom LuAnn
ReplyDeleteNice little funny story. What an interesting ringtone for her maid's phone.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link:
ReplyDeleteWant to get lost in the woods of dystopian Britland?
buff.ly/1kpikxo
Five novels on the same page.
sure Francene, thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks tweetsmom
ReplyDeleteHa ha...my husband has that kind of ring tone for unwanted callers! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Francene :-)
ReplyDeleteIs it? It's fun :-)
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't last long in that society. Too much of a mouth on me. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah another dystopian Corinne
ReplyDeleteFunny story...a great reflection of life as we know it.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you expect Leanne? A real horror? :-p
ReplyDeleteIt's good to write down the things you are grateful for. This cements them in your mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful to spend another day with my husband, who is suffering with his health.
not what I expected - but such a true reflection of life in a funny story!
ReplyDeleteA great list! I am pretty excited about the e book too. Can't wait till it is ready to see my story in print on Amazon!
ReplyDeleteit turned out really well - I hope you both had fun doing it :)
ReplyDeleteYes tweetsmom.
ReplyDeleteThanks Geets :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Nabanitha. Craft is a good way to engage kids. So I learn and try to do with him :-)
ReplyDeleteyes Francene. it's kind of helping me in finding out every small positive aspect in my life.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure Sarah
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting, though not my usual genre. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDelete
