Gratitude List for December 2017 #GratitudeCircle

Though it is late, I cannot miss counting my blessings for December.
So, quickly on to my Gratitude List.

1. Dance classes
I never thought that I would teach dance when I learned it. I always thought I would become a professional dancer and perform which I did my whole life till now. I think it is time to take the next step and pass on what I have learned to my next generation. I am very grateful to my Dance teacher Ms. Parvathi Ramachandran for training me with patience.

My Dance classes have picked up from December and I am looking forward to focussing on teaching this year as well.

2. New friends
As we grow older and matured, It is difficult to find good friends. Did you observe? In this new place and new country, I took time to make friendships (Not a hi, bye type but helping each other type). This month and the last month, I have met many people and made new friends - I would say, good friends. I am grateful for this.

3. Zentangle
I tried a new art inspired by my fellow bloggers Raji and Shilpa. This art is different from others as the sky is the only limit to creativity. No two persons can draw the same as everyone thinks differently. It is very relaxing to my mind to draw Zentangles. I might have bored my Instagram and Facebook followers with some initial drawings and I am sorry for that.  You know, it's the excitement after all when we start a new hobby :-)
My Recent Zentangle

4. Books
I got some time to read good books this month. I enjoyed reading 'Empire' by Devi Yesodharan which is an inspiring Historical fiction. 'Destined' by Rubina is a Romance with a nice concept. Mama Graciela's Secret is a Children's story with moral. Black Peppers is a thriller set in 1700 AD in Kerala. Karna's Celestial Armour is a Mythological Fiction. I am grateful for the opportunity to read many genres and different stories.

5. More time with Kids
Even though it was tough being a judge most of the time when my both sons fight for every small thing, I survived their Christmas holidays. We read some good books, did some crafts together and also did some drawings. We watched some movies too.

My elder one's school will re-open day after tomorrow and I don't want to wake up early again for his school :-( Enjoyed good sleep till 8 am in the mornings in these holidays :-)

So, that was from my side. I hope, you had a great celebration welcoming the new year. Cheer up and Enjoy the coming days :-)

Until next time,

  1. Wonderful, Mahati. I'm so glad that August was a great month for you. Rock on!

  2. Is name change due to marriage? If so, marriage certificate needs to be produced while you are applying for renewal. Else, you need at least one Identity proof with the new name to be mentioned. Renewal is almost equal to applying for a fresh passport except that you mention your old passport number in the application. I renewed from Begumpet PSK, let me know if you need any information on renewal. My renewal post is linked in this post.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ya heard about Aadhar. But, for a passport, anyway they are not considering it as a sole proof. They need additional proof if aadhar is submitted.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Thanks for sharing, Mahati. I prefer to give directly to individuals or organizations where I can visit directly.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ya cover is attention seeker :-) it's just book spot light Francene, not review. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thanks LuAnn for dropping by.. It's good that your county has low pay option for breakfast and lunch for school going children.
I am also looking forward to read interesting posts in SeptemberChallenge from you!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh yeah. It's because of giveaway. Thanks for trying again :-)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ah I found the comment box. I just think it took a long while to load because of that huge giveaway html.
Seems like a quick and easy read!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Mm.. I too enjoy reading romance tweetsmom. Participate in giveaway. Thanks for dropping by

    ReplyDelete
  10. true, I understand Corinne :-) This giveaway is for 700+ books and as days go by, steps increase as it is featuring at least 3 to 4 books a day for a whole month.

    ReplyDelete
  11. sounds like a lovely book - hope you get lots of entries (it's not really my type of read but I imagine lots of people would enjoy it!) ~ Leanne

    ReplyDelete
  12. I support a child through a different organization - it's lovely to know that you can make a difference in the life of a child when we have so many blessings ourselves. ~ Leanne

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  17. Alana Mautone5:44 PM

As someone who has never traveled off the North American continent (except in books and blogs) this would be interesting to those who enjoy romance novels.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Frankly, I've never seen a giveaway with so many steps, Mahati. Sorry but I don't have the patience for that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good to know that Vidya.. Great that you are working with them :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I too travelled only in India and US Alana. Will be interesting to know other places

    ReplyDelete
  21. LuAnn Braley5:44 PM

Funny...I happened to look at my very first post ever just a few days ago (July 2007). There is nothing wrong with simple goals. There is a much better chance you will achieve them and a better chance to increase your happiness, IMO (in my opinion).

Your photos are GORGEOUS! I've been to Niagara as well, and took a tour that went behind the falls.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks LuAnn. You are very true about simple goals. I too took a tour to niagara and it's excellent

    ReplyDelete
  23. Those are some simple and achievable goals. In the end, if you love what you write, it will come easy. Oh and how funny is it going back to your original posts and seeing just how much you've grown! I've been blogging for 8 years and I can see how much I have changed in my style and my voice --- all an indication of how I've grown.

    ReplyDelete
  24. LuAnn Braley5:44 PM

Mahathi, if I lived in India, I'm sure I would be printing off these instructions and carrying them around with me until the process was through. Seems like a very thorough post!

    ReplyDelete
  25. yes Sanch.. how funny it is to look back to old posts :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. my pleasure, Shalini :-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ah - bottom line always is, do what makes you happy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Alana Mautone5:44 PM

I've only seen two "Bollywood" pictures (I live in the United States) but people are people everywhere - I love my husband of 41 years even though some of his faults can frustrate me. That's because he can say the same about me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for dropping by Alana. True, no one is perfect. So it works, if couple accepts their imperfections and be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Glad that it motivates you Francene. I think, we all in writeTribe group has that in common - we all enjoy blogging and expressing our views

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love how you get so much pleasure from these movies - we don't have them in Australia but we do enjoy some "bollywood" when it comes down under - nothing like gorgeous heroes and heroines to brighten your day! ~ Leanne

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am a movie buff and enjoy them in various languages. I must look for the movie you mentioned, Mahathi. That cartoon is the cutest!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've been thinking about why I blog too - I think it's just such a fun thing to do and all the advice about having a "purpose" can ruin that. I agree with the others - just keep writing about the things that make you happy - that's what we all like to read.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just what I needed, Mahati. I remember I had no such problems 10 years ago. Now my passport has expired and I need to change my name as well. Book marking to refer to this. Which passport office did you go to?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Extremely important and helpful. I'm bookmarking! Thanks a ton for sharing :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Francene Stanley5:44 PM

You love them because they're not. But, that goes wrong so often. The woman thinks she can 'save' her husband, but he turns out to be controlling and she's trapped. That's the other side of love.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Eli Ert5:44 PM

Nice review:-) I liked that you summed up what was great about it:-) And hey- always time for a good love story:-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tweetsmom5:44 PM

I love movies and am a sucker for a happy ending. Just love it!

    ReplyDelete
  39. The name is so interesting. Whoever would have thought a few years ago that they'd use 'Bhale Bhale' in the title of a Telugu film? Or did I get the meaning wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  40. That word is there is Telugu also Corinne. It means different/ special. You might be referring to Hindi?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sure Corinne can suggest some good Telugu movies :-)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Francene Stanley5:44 PM

What a great way to teach children science by involving them in a game. Invisible ink has always intrigued me.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Is it? Looks complex for me to think

    ReplyDelete
  44. Price might look expensive, but when i saw the kit, i was convinced that it's worth the money. It might be around 16 dollars per kit without a subscription.

    ReplyDelete
  45. true Francene.. even i became a kid exploring flintobox with my child :-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. well, this is certainly something interesting... why didnt we have such stuff when we were small :D

    ReplyDelete
  47. LuAnn Braley5:44 PM

Looks fun and educational. Wish there had been more of this kind of thing when my kids were younger...or even when I was younger! :O)

    ReplyDelete
  48. We can be kids once again :-) Even i enjoyed exploring the box with my kid.

    ReplyDelete
  49. mm.. i too fell that, would have been great :-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wish I could understand the language! Nice review! :) Keep reviewing movies!

    ReplyDelete
  51. mm.. language is sure a barrier LuAnn

    ReplyDelete
  52. 10 years!! Wow. Blogging is fun as we interact and get to know more bloggers. I started my fist blog in 2008. Only last year I learned about blogging communities and the fun through interaction.
I liked the way you described your blog, Ramya. Great going. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks Vinitha.. Even, i didn't know about blogging groups and communities till last year and I couldn't concentrate on my blog equally in all these years..Few years were lovely with more time to blog and for few years, my blog was just there silent :-)

    ReplyDelete
  54. nabanita215:45 PM

    ReplyDelete
  55. nabanita215:45 PM

It makes you happy to blog, doesn't it?
For me to the main reason is that..I blog because I love to do it, it makes me happy, reallt really happy!

    ReplyDelete
  56. yes Nabanita, it makes me really happy. Sometimes it's a booster and keeps my spirits high.

    ReplyDelete
  57. you certainly enjoy a lot of interesting books - this one sounds quite interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Mystery is favourite genre Leanne.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Payal Agarwal5:45 PM

I wish it gets dubbed in Hindi soon or if it comes with English subtitles, I'll be able to understand it. Nice message.

    ReplyDelete
  60. nice thought by the way, obviously difficult na to run with heels :-) I too like seeing women in these kind of tough roles - say, detective

    ReplyDelete
  61. Francene Stanley5:45 PM

I started blogging 2 3/4 years ago and have given my views on news every day since. I look forward to finding a subject to write about every morning. The blog has motivated me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. LuAnn Braley5:45 PM

This is where my practical side kicks in I suppose. I saw the cover (which is great btw) and thought, "How could she run in those heels?" *lol* But I do love a book where women find out they are stronger than they think.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thanks, Leanne. Yes, i agree that it's a fun thing to do and having a purpose can ruin that.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Many movies are getting dubbed in Hindi recently. This might get in that list too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Nice review, Mahathi. No matter how many resources, it is never enough! :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I too love them. Even my book reading interest started with detective novels.. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Guess your blogging goals are mine! I write to have fun. No comparison though. I'm just an amateur and I recently celebrated my blog's second birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Cheers :-) Lets blog and have fun. Congrats for second blog anniversary

    ReplyDelete
  69. It would be great if many can come out of abusive relationships Corinne. It's not as easy as said, thye need support from someone close - friends or parents or colleagues. Few people don't even realize that they are in an abusive relationship and continue suffering.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks Vidya. True, proper search for a college is an important step for a bright future of students.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Good luck to her! I hope many more women would leave abusive relationships and move forward!

    ReplyDelete
  72. sounds like a fun movie - but we'll never get to see it in Australia :(

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks. Sure Mary, will join.

    ReplyDelete
  74. ya. A fun movie Leanne

    ReplyDelete
  75. True Corinne and I am enjoying writing more after joining WriteTribe Fb group :-)

Something tells me she will go far. Being able to let go will allow her to reach for the stars.

    ReplyDelete
  80. how nice if it was true and if she succeeded!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Francene Stanley5:45 PM

Oh, yes. I remember Kung Foo Fighting, along with everyone on the planet. Biddu's song is still used in various television commercials, so it's kept in front of everyone's mind. What an amazing struggle he had to reach the peak of his career. Just goes to show, we should give everything for what we believe in.

    ReplyDelete
  82. yeah Francene.. it's interesting to know about his musical journey

    ReplyDelete
  83. He reminds me of my childhood days. His music was so much ahead of the times. It will be good to read more about his life.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yes Corinne, easy giveaway rules :-)

    ReplyDelete
  85. I agree mukulika that his music is ahead of our times

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yes it is! Enter the raffle copter to win the book :-)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Eli Ert5:45 PM

Wow, didnt know it was rooted well in India... Interesting. Nice read:-)

    ReplyDelete
  88. I haven't heard that song.. I only knew 'Made in India' song which was very popular at that time here

    ReplyDelete
  89. Biddu's music was good. I'd love to read the book. Have entered the giveaway too, Mahathi. This one is short and easy to do! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  90. LuAnn Braley5:45 PM

"Kung Fu Fighting"? Wow, that takes me back! It's always interesting to hear about the lives of artists and writers. Such a creative bunch! :O)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Happy Ganesh Chathurthi to you and your family, Mahathi. Thank you for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Happy Ganesh Chathurdi to you too Mahathi - I learn new stuff all the time with reading these blogs!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yes it's wonderful family time Alana.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Alana Mautone5:45 PM

Thank you for sharing this with us in the United States. Sounds like a beautiful time. In my culture, we celebrated our New Year Sunday night.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thanks Leanne. It's interesting to know other cultures. I too learn a lot reading other blogs

    ReplyDelete
  96. LuAnn Braley5:45 PM

Happy Ganesh Chathurdi, Mahathi! When I was still living with my mother, we had an Indian family down the block, and they would often invite us over for supper, children's birthdays and the like. Thank you for sharing this celebration with us!

    ReplyDelete
  97. yes.. concept itself looks interesting LuAnn

    ReplyDelete
  98. Not yet Corinne. Even I am interested to read.

    ReplyDelete
  99. sounds like an interesting (and fairly easy) read Mahathi.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Francene Stanley5:45 PM

I know Rasana already from a novel's critique group on th web: The Internet Writing Workshop. I love her writing and wish her every success.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Ok, good to hear that Francene. I am yet to read her books.

    ReplyDelete
  102. LuAnn Braley5:46 PM

I read the preview on Amazon. Seems like a great read!

    ReplyDelete
  103. sounds like a fun read - shame I'm a bit old for it but I bet there's heaps of younger girls who would love it!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Since I left the teenage years a long time ago, will give this one a miss. Indian weddings are always fun to read about, watch or be part of.

    ReplyDelete
  105. yes Indian weddings are fun to know about

    ReplyDelete
  106. Loved reading your thoughts, Mahathi and I agree with everything. The story is like a wedding episode. I loved the Indian marriage scene described here. :)

Checkout my Review of Milan here: http://www.njkinnysblog.com/2015/09/arc-book-review-milan-wedding-story-by.html

    ReplyDelete
  107. Yes Leanne. Hope is the greatest inspiration!

    ReplyDelete
  108. nabanita215:46 PM

I'm more of a thriller lover so will probably give this one a miss...There was a phase where I loved wedding stories...Now, I guess I'm growing old :D

    ReplyDelete
  109. Thanks Vidya. I don't why, but i like reading some realistic stories :-)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Francene Stanley5:46 PM

Such drama expressed in your few words, Mahathi.

    ReplyDelete
  111. LuAnn Braley5:46 PM

Love your take on the prompt, Mahathi. I'm cheering for your character!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Thanks Nikita, loved your detailed review too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  113. Tweetsmom5:46 PM

It sounds like this idealistic story is a bit hard to believe. Simply too good to be true. Life simply doesn't work out like that.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Sometimes an idealistic story is welcome in these days when excitement is the name of the game. I like your review of the book, Mahathi!

    ReplyDelete
  115. he he :-) thanks Francene

    ReplyDelete
  116. True.. but, unfortunately, preference for fair complexion is soo much rooted in people's mindsets.

    ReplyDelete
  117. anamika agnihotri5:46 PM

It hurts me more when the aged and the elderlies in the family point out to this aspect because they are expected to be wiser. Cheers to you Ramya for you have taken it in your stride to ignore remarks about the complexion. An individual is definitely more than his/her skin colour.

    ReplyDelete
  118. For Indians, it might not look very interesting as we know all these ceremonies to some extent. But, it might be good for NRIs to know about these. No one is too old for good romantic books Nabanita :-)

    ReplyDelete
  119. I agree Anamika that at least elders should think wiser. I hope, that our generation wil give preference to individuality over complexion

    ReplyDelete
  120. It's sickening to see people gaga over skin color. I am glad that you realized that skin has got nothing to do with who you are, Ramya. I had been experiencing the color discriminations since my childhood. I know what you are saying.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Thanks Vinitha. In India, people can relate to it well

    ReplyDelete
  122. Francene Stanley5:46 PM

Why should this be so? Everybody is individual in the colour of their hair, their eyes and their skin. Nobody would say, your eyes are brown, therefore you're not attractive. Unfortunately, this prejudice is a hanger on from history. We should all be ashamed. Bless you--you 'are' beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Until people give importance to personality than looks, it's better to ignore them and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  124. It's a problem as old as time. You would think that such an advanced society could finally move past these foolish prejudices.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Payal Agarwal5:46 PM

You remind me of my friend here. So glad that you ignore such people.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Wow! I love that song "Kung Fu Fighting!" Who knew it had it's roots in India.. That's such a fun fact.

    ReplyDelete
  127. But, many girls still believe on fair and lovely and other face cream ads.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Tweetsmom5:46 PM

I remember "Kung Fu Fighting"! Sounds like a fascinating book! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  129. ya problem is old and continuing still.. I hope, people's mindset changes slowly

    ReplyDelete
  130. Francene Stanley5:46 PM

That sounds as if it would keep little eyes focused and little minds creative.

    ReplyDelete
  131. MaryJohn5:46 PM

To check whether a site is legit usually, I follow a simple checklist to see how well they do,

    1) Does the site have a current SSL certificate?

    2) Use http://www.whoisxy.com/ to check the whois information and check whether the
contact information matches with the one in the website.

    3) In the domain contact details, is there a valid email address.

    4) Is there a valid phone number visible, and does it work ?

    5) Go through review about them using Unmaskparasites.com and check whether they are scam free.

If I am satisfied with the result then I purchase a small priced article
and if it is delivered safely and promptly then I go to purchase my
desired product. You also can follow the steps that I do...In general,
anyone who is trying to do legitimate business on the web will go out of
their way to try and make it clear that they are legitimate. So if a
site has not even done the bare basics to give customers enough
confidence to buy they're products, then it is almost certainly some
    sort of scam.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeah Leanne. Had great fun time with kid :-)

    ReplyDelete
  133. Tweetsmom5:46 PM

I remember making these with my kids when they were preschoolers. They had a blast and we made a mess! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  134. nabanita215:46 PM

Oh I'm not a artsy or crafty person as well so I can imagine getting this done would have been an accomplishment! Great going

    ReplyDelete
  135. thoughtful......and something other opinionated minds to think about......

    ReplyDelete
  136. Yes Suniana. Thanks for dropping by

    ReplyDelete
  137. This looks really nice..! and a different thing to do on a weekend!

    Cheers

    ReplyDelete
  138. I'm wondering who had more fun with this, Mahathi! :)

    ReplyDelete
  139. So you had seen a few Indian festivals/ celebrations. Thanks LuAnn

    ReplyDelete
  140. Thanks mimi. We have many festivals to celebrate and new dress is kind of prerequisite :-p

    ReplyDelete
  141. Happy Ganesh Chathurth! This sounds like a celebration I should be a part of! :D It looks so beautiful, and what woman doesn't need yet another reason to buy a new dress?? Thank you for sharing this Mahathi!

    ReplyDelete
  142. you guessed it right! i enjoyed it a lot :-p.. couldn't do these kind of activities when i was a kid

    ReplyDelete
  143. Seems like a wonderful story. Have you read it, Mahathi?

    ReplyDelete
  144. I really agree with this - "to thine own self be true" - you need to trust your conscience and your intuition and go with what feels right every time :)

    ReplyDelete
  145. It's one of the hardest things to do, Mahathi - but utterly soul-satisifying.

    ReplyDelete
  146. yes Corinne.. its not very easy

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yes Leanne.. It's interesting to know about the Indian wedding and pomp and glory of all ceremonies associated with the wedding. Teenage girls might love it

    ReplyDelete
  148. Yes Orana. We can make many crafts with egg cartons. Currently I have my parent's support in taking care if my kids. Else, it's almost impossible to relax with 2 kids :-)

    ReplyDelete
  149. Looks like fun! egg cartoons have always been the greatest of crafters. I wish I could spend a weekend reading and sleeping, how do you do it?

    ReplyDelete
  150. ok. I agree that dystopian is different, not many people's choice.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Parul5:46 PM

That looks cool and must have been a fun time spent with children :)

    ReplyDelete
  152. Francene Stanley5:46 PM

Sounds like a good book. I like dystopian--write them too. Chuckle.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Hmmm...not sure whether I'd really like this. Dystopian is not my reading choice!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Eli Ert5:46 PM

Hm, not sure they are my kind of books, but your review made me a bit curious, I must admit! Well written, and what an author too ... what made her go for writing... Very fascinating:-)

    ReplyDelete
  155. Good Francene!.. will be happy to read your book too then :-)

    ReplyDelete
  156. Sounds like a sweet story. I do like happy endings! :)

    ReplyDelete
  157. Yes Eli, interesting book and the earlier book of this series - Ruby Iyer series, have become popular.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Francene Stanley5:47 PM

This sounds like an interesting subject. I'm keen on dystopian, having co-written a series myself which is set in England.

    ReplyDelete
  159. oh is it? great! I am not very keen on dystopian, but would love to read yours :-)

    ReplyDelete
  160. Eli Ert5:47 PM

    Wow that sounds intriguing...:-)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Another one of those? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  162. Isn't it sick how colour still dominates our society! I'm glad you have learned to look at the beauty within you, as we all must learn to do.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Sarah Elle Emm5:47 PM

Thank you for hosting my series today! :)

    ReplyDelete
  164. Definitely it's difficult to live without freedom LuAnn

    ReplyDelete
  165. Francene Stanley5:47 PM
