The joy of Motherhood

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

I was kind of a person who never paid attention to small kids. My friends and cousins used to start a conversation with kids and play with them. Until I became a mom, that child caring attitude wasn't there.

I clearly remember the first day when my elder son was born in a hospital. It was a normal delivery. I enjoyed my pregnancy period a lot keeping myself happy always, eating good food and getting pampered by my spouse. I didn't dream about how my baby would look like but I felt some strange happy feeling when I experienced first kicks of my child in my tummy.

It was not a love at first sight or the greatest joy when I delivered. Reason being the complication after my delivery. You can read my childbirth story here. But, for my second delivery, I have discussed with the doctor on the possible complications and chose c section and I was mentally ready to face my baby, feed him and care for him.

I have experienced the joy of mommyhood when....

I saw my baby in pink, so chubby, round, cute, small and beautiful.

I could feed my baby for the first time through breastfeeding. I felt an emotional bond instantly.

I experience the joy of mommyhood every time...

When I see the blind trust my children show to me.

When I see my qualities in my children, especially creativity.

When they show kindness and care to family and friends. I feel proud of the little ones for learning important skills.

When they help others and show empathy.

When they explore the environment and learn new things in life.

When I am amazed at how quick they grasp some skills and when they are ahead of me in learning.

When they surprise me with a lot of questions and curiosity to understand things in this world.

When they try to understand my feelings and help.

When we all sit together and enjoy our favorite show on TV or do some craft together or paint together.

Simply put, the joy Mommyhood is in the everyday life of the Parent. Feel Grateful for the moments you create now with your children and stay blessed as Time will fly and the days gone are gone.

Until next time,

Motherhood taught me..

I love this wonderful quote by Dr.Seuss.

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory - Dr.Seuss

Mostly, we wont realize the importance of beautiful moments in our life. Life is temporary and un-predictable. We get many ups and downs and we need some inspiration to be positive always. These moments and memories keep us going when we are low.

My thought process changed when I gave birth to my second kid. This time, I wanted to cherish each and every moment of motherhood. I enjoyed every small achievement of him and felt proud on his first crawl, smile and walk. I didn't want to miss those moments. It was so cute seeing him crawling and this phase of his life will be at-most few more months. Later, it becomes a memory. I can see these only on recorded videos. There were sleepless nights, waking up at least 3 times to feed him, which was not easy when I had to go to office without enough sleep. But, I felt, this phase is very small and these moments will never come again even if I want to. This brought more positivity in my life.

Motherhood taught me patience and positive spirit, because kids are unpredictable, one day they laugh and play a lot, be cute and make life worth living. Some days, they get sick, stick to you whole day, cry without any reason, need your reassurance and attention whole day and irritate and drain you by the end of the day. Now, I am more matured to deal with stress. Earlier, multi tasking was never my forte. I was not able to cook properly if I talk on phone simultaneously. I used to give attention to every work I do and used to avoid multi tasking. If I do multi tasking, definitely I would spoil the work. Now, it doesn't seem difficult, to attend call, cook in the middle while taking care of baby simultaneously :-)

Life teaches many lessons, Good or bad - everything is an opportunity to learn something. So, cherish every small moment and capture them so that you can enjoy those memories later.

Baby in the womb

Some say,
it's like a fluttering butterfly, soft bubble bursting, gentle tap on tummy or strong kick

Some experience,
gentle movement, soft somersaults,  hiccups or mini aerobics

It is wonderful to have a life inside you, a cute innocent human being,
with little palms, tiny toes, which can listen, see and breathe.

I bow to the God for his magical creation and
I feel proud to be a woman to experience motherhood.

Until next time,

A Journey of Motherhood - Song of my life

I feel motherhood is a journey. It makes you mature from a newlywed girl to a woman. It makes you understand the happiness of giving. It is all together a new experience that only a mother can understand.

9 months of my pregnancy were smooth and happy. I was healthy, doing whatever I like and eating whatever I want except for 2 months when I suffered with morning sickness. I never dreamed how my baby should look like or how I should take care of him. I didn’t get the bonding with my baby boy from the first day of delivery unlike everyone else. May be it is because of suffering and pain that I had due to some complication after delivery. I remember the day of delivery.. my bundle of joy was slightly pinkish and chubby. He was so adorable. I couldn’t breastfeed him for first few days due to my health problems, I was lucky that he felt comfortable and adapted to both breast feed and formula feed. Breast feeding was very tiring and used to make me exhausted most of the times, it was painful. But, that is the time I felt like a mother, I felt like I was complete as a woman.Taking care of a baby single handed, that too first year is un-imaginable. Support of parents and spouse made me enjoy motherhood without any problems.

Every small achievement of my baby used to make me wonder of God’s creation. His first flip, rolling, sitting, first steps, waving bye for the first time, coos and different sounds, giggles and first few words like ‘thatha’ ‘amma’ ‘daa’. Children change the atmosphere around us and make home lively and pleasant always. There are many pleasant memories till now, he is 20 months old now and he is super active and naughty. But, there were also some days or times when it was difficult to manage him, some days when I prayed to God to make him sleep early and there were many sleepless nights too. I think, to get something good we may need to lose something else. Some compromises and adjustments are needed to enjoy motherhood for sure.

I realized my mother’s importance during this phase and my respect to her just doubled :)
Last, but not the least, this excellent video by 'Mom &Me' made me refresh those mommy moments :)
