If you have been following my blog recently, you would know that I am preparing gratitude list from past 2 months here and here and it feels very good doing that. These lists show how grateful I am to have a comfortable life.
By God's grace, many of us are fortunate to have good food, health and happiness. There are many in our world who are deprived of their basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. When I think of donating to some charity, I would select one which will provide these basic necessities to deprived people. When I choose some charity, I would like to know how my money will be spent or utilized. If this information is not given by the charity, my sole intention of helping someone cannot be satisfied.
These days, many organizations are collaborating with NGOs to improve the society and people around us through corporate social responsibility programs. Even I participated in many such social responsible events, but choosing a right transparent NGO is becoming tough.
Stumbled upon this site - Akshaya Patra foundation and did some research online about its transparency. Could find only positive reviews without negativity and so, would like to share the information on this foundation here to spread a word.
Akshaya Patra foundation is a non-profit organization headquartered in Benguluru, India. This organization is found from the inspiration of Shri Prabhupada and it strives to fight issues like hunger and malnutrition in children in India. By implementing mid-day meal schemes in government schools and government-aided schools, it is not only feeding hungry children but also encouraging them to come to school. Isn't it good?
A simple calculation in the site shows how just Rs.750/- can feed a child for a complete year. It also mentions clearly the segregation of money on different expenses like program management, fund raising and communication etc., Please do check this site and donate, if you feel, it's worth to spend money on this noble cause.
Until next time,
