Success and Satisfaction #WriteBravely

PS: This is the final part of the fiction series. I am very grateful to each and every reader who commented, appreciated and encouraged me in this Write tribe festival of words. I was really scared to write fiction on my blog for the first time and you know, I tried my best with limited time. Success doesn't matter but the satisfaction of writing matters.

Karthika is on cloud nine when she received the award from Business Insider as one of the Best Startups of the year 2018. The reason for happiness is not the award, but the thought that she could prove Rajiv wrong. Rajiv always insulted her that she cannot win life on her own without his support. 

There is no turning back for her. Gradually, she expanded her reach to other cities and became a popular brand on all third-party sites.

Now that the business is growing, she became busier. But, still, something is missing in her life. Neither the newfound luxury nor the comfort and money gave her happiness. 

She always admired the philanthropist "Mrs. Sudha Murthy" from her childhood. Inspired by her speeches, Karthika wants to do something which helps the youth of our nation. 

She still remembers her disappointment when she couldn't continue her graduation due to financial troubles. She started volunteering on a foundation which funds to build libraries in high schools across the nation. Also, she decided to contribute some of her profit to the students like her who couldn't continue her education.  This decision gave her happiness and fulfillment in life.

After the painful divorce, Karthika focussed completely on her tailoring business. Since business is growing with multiple orders, it is becoming a challenge to retain employees, hire more people and give better salaries. She took help of her ex-students who volunteered to work at her shop. She formed a trusted team of employees from her ex-students.

Karthika resigned her job, pooled out all her savings and decided to try innovative strategies to move ahead.

She promoted her shop with unique features:

• Quicker service(within 3 hrs) with door delivery by online booking 
• A website to record orders along with the customized measurements, detailed charges and multiple models to choose from.

She also started selling ready-made embroidery blouses which suit for any type of saree. Introduced her product line in third-party websites as an independent seller.

These simple but important changes increased her reach. She knew her dreams would come true soon. All her hard work will be paid.

Freedom and Hardwork #WriteBravely

Karthika tried talking to Rajiv zillion times to trust and support her. But, nothing worked. She couldn't satisfy his ego. Moreover, he started drinking regularly and abusing her.

She decided to file a divorce to Rajiv and move out from his place. Divorce might be one of the best decisions of her life. She never thought that coming out of a bad relationship is such a relief.

Even though she didn't contact her parents and friends frequently after marriage, they stood like her backbone when she needed strength. Starting a business from scratch needs positive spirit and hard work. 

She rented a small room for her tailoring business and hired a few housewives with a meager salary who accepted to work part-time at the shop. She trained them in tailoring and embroidery. She started taking online orders and used social media and the network of her school students to promote her business. 

Initially, the financial problems were too much. She continued her teaching job in the morning by taking tuitions in the evening and on weekends. When orders were more she worked hard till late nights. 

She saw a hope in her future with the growing business.

Many say women change after marriage.

Karthika thought, "It's true. How much ever women try to be independent and confident, marriage changes their lives. If the spouse is supportive and appreciates her, she can rise to any level. But, if the spouse is discouraging and belittle her for every small thing, the confidence goes down."

Day by day, her problems in marriage are increasing. When there is no trust in a relationship, it is not worth continuing. She is creative and active person whereas, Rajiv is an introvert and restricts her to be at home. With difficulty, she finished MBA studying part-time. As a hobby, she used to stitch clothes and do embroidery. Her skill helped her to earn money after school. With her social network, she even created a website and used social media to promote her work. With the help of her close friends, she wants to start her own tailoring business and grow it further.

But, she knows that Rajiv cannot bear if she earns more. Rajiv already threatened her that he will take divorce if she starts a business. He wants to have kids and start a family immediately. Karthika is scared to take their relationship to next level. She doesn't want another life to suffer due to their differences.

A wrong move #WriteBravely

Love is crazy. It makes people go off balance sometimes.

While Krithika is busy preparing question papers for her class and making copies, accidentally met the vibrant and handsome Rajiv who joined as a new teacher in his school. A casual friendship blossomed into love.

Hours became seconds for the lovebirds. The background, financial problems and, family restrictions took back seat. They went ahead and got married. Both were contented and happy till 6 months while Karthika took pride in Rajiv's possessiveness and enjoyed his undivided attention.

Small differences started cropping up whenever Karthika spends more time with her close friends or takes extra classes in school. Rajiv wants her to be dependent on him for every small thing and cannot bear when she manages anything on her own. He used to show his frustration and anger by insulting her/ accusing her of affairs with her male friends. He is the most loving husband only when she is submissive and supports her husband blindly.

Karthika didn't lose hopes on her married life as she believed that she can change her fate.

Unfortunately, her dreams were shattered when she lost her father in a serious accident. She has to discontinue her graduation to support her family.

When her neighborhood school needed a maths teacher urgently, she had to join for money.

She never liked the kids and doesn't have any patience to deal with their mischievousness. But, slowly the happy smiles of cute children, their curiosity, affection, and innocence changed something inside her. Now, teaching is not a job but has become a part of her life.

The emotional connection to Home #MondayMusings

I am a patriotic person but I am not someone who praises the motherland and supports their own country always for everything. I believe that each place has its own benefits and I thought, I would be comfortable wherever I go in this world if I have my family with me and if I don't have any financial troubles. But, now I feel that is wrong. I have an emotional connection to the place which I call "HOME".

I think, most of us are emotionally connected to the place/country that we call "Home". This might be where we were born/ where we grew/ where we worked/ settled/ where we spent more time in our life/ where we made more memories.

Even though I was born in our grand mother's town, I am emotionally connected to the place where I grew up. Here, I made memories. My school days, family time with parents, college days, my dance school days, my dance performances, friends, music and drawing classes, shopping etc., I made wonderful memories. Then, I moved to another state for my first job and I made a few more memories with friends, colleagues and had fun enjoying my freedom with my money. I loved this place, as I tried learning the new language there, understanding a new culture, tasting different food and exploring the city on my own with the help of friends.

We then moved to another place where I got married, had kids, worked in a good company and had a satisfying career. But, till then I was in the same country which I call my Home country - India. Later, we moved to a new country altogether and got introduced to the new language, culture, and new people. I love the variety in my life and I don't mind taking risks for a happy life. So, I easily mingled with people, learned many new things and made new friends and created my own world in a country which is not my HOME and which will never be our HOME in future.

I have no intention of settling down in another country as for me, HOME is a place which is comfortable, relaxing and also relatable. It is a place where I connect to my family, culture and won't have any restrictions.
