Many say women change after marriage.
Karthika thought, "It's true. How much ever women try to be independent and confident, marriage changes their lives. If the spouse is supportive and appreciates her, she can rise to any level. But, if the spouse is discouraging and belittle her for every small thing, the confidence goes down."
Day by day, her problems in marriage are increasing. When there is no trust in a relationship, it is not worth continuing. She is creative and active person whereas, Rajiv is an introvert and restricts her to be at home. With difficulty, she finished MBA studying part-time. As a hobby, she used to stitch clothes and do embroidery. Her skill helped her to earn money after school. With her social network, she even created a website and used social media to promote her work. With the help of her close friends, she wants to start her own tailoring business and grow it further.
But, she knows that Rajiv cannot bear if she earns more. Rajiv already threatened her that he will take divorce if she starts a business. He wants to have kids and start a family immediately. Karthika is scared to take their relationship to next level. She doesn't want another life to suffer due to their differences.
At last, the time has come to take an important decision in her life.

DeleteYa. In India, women are tuned to change after marriage.
DeleteThank God she's showing some spine
ReplyDeleteI think differently. After marriage it is not about you or him. It is about us. Coming to that understanding is important. It is not about losing your individuality either but how you nurture and grow together
ReplyDeleteTrue.. Here Rajiv is not trying to understand.
DeleteI have come to detest this Rajiv guy even more as I read your story Ramya but to be honest its the story of most men around. Hope she finds courage to follow her dreams
ReplyDeleteYes Akshata. I too hate to say that there are many men who want their wife to be submissive and dependent on him.
DeleteGood Karthika is taking a stand. would be difficult to stay in a relationship like this one
ReplyDeleteYes Suzy. Karthika has to decide now what he wants.
DeleteA marriage is more of a give and take. It any one person starts dictating terms to the other it's more of a dictatorship than companionship. It is really disgusting when people do so. Kudos to her for not putting up with it.
ReplyDeleteYes Vinodini.
DeleteOh, I am glad she is thinking of makig a decision! She better
ReplyDeleteYes Rashmi. Now time has come.
DeleteMale ego is the same everywhere. However, even after having kids one can follow one's dreams successfully. Just like we work hard in our careers, we need to work hard in our relationships as well.
ReplyDeleteA! I love this quote from the movie Ratatouille! Infact if we apply this to our life and follow it to the core then there is no looking back.
