Word of the Year 2019 #WOTY #WOTY2019

This is my last post of 2018 and this is about the coming year.  Every year I set a word for that year and try to abide by it in all circumstances.

In 2016, I have set the word of the year as 'Change' and there are a lot of changes that happened in my life especially relocating to another country, leaving the job that I enjoyed working for almost 11 years etc., But, I believed that change is only for good and accepted it without regret.

In 2017, I decided my word of the year to be 'Aggressive', though it might seem negative, I was bored of my routine life of household works and thus wanted to be aggressive in promoting for my dance classes and network with other people in the new place that we recently relocated to.

In 2018, I have set the word of the year as 'Positive spirit'. I have been mindful to every happening in my life, I tried to be positive, without losing cool and succeeded upto 90%. Once or twice negative thoughts have surrounded me and I felt, depressed. But, Overall I could stick around with this word and create positive vibes around me.

This coming year 2019, I want to set the word of the year as 'Slow down'.

Yes, Fortunately, I have achieved my long-term goals and now, this is the time to slow down a bit and relax. I want to spend more time on things that I like - blogging, traveling, reading books etc., I want to continue improving my knowledge of software testing and focus on my dance classes. There is no hurry to achieve any goal but being mindful is important. So, I have decided to slow down a bit and enjoy every moment in 2019.

What is your word of the year? Word of the year is some word that we want to focus in the coming year. Think about it and let me know what you want to focus on in 2019.

Meanwhile, Accept my wishes for the happy new year :-) Celebrate and welcome the new year. I wish the new year brings you all good health, wealth and happiness.

Until next time,

Gratitude List for 2018 #GratitudeCircle

December is ending in a few days and thus 2018. We are waiting to welcome the new year 2019. 2018 is a very satisfying year for my personal and professional life. I am grateful to GOD and my family for helping me achieve my goals and end this year with happiness.

I couldn't write gratitude lists for last 2 months and of course, there is a valid reason which kept me away from the blog. But, these 3 months including December made this year fantastic.

Here are a few things that I am grateful for this year:

1. Work permit

2 years is a big break from what I love to do. I am passionate about software testing and I loved the work that I did in my career for 11 years. I am grateful to get a work permit in this country and I am excited to restart my career.

2. Dance classes

Due to many reasons, I didn't get time to promote my dance classes this year. Due to India trip and my job search, I couldn't focus on my dance classes. Still, I am grateful for the recognition I received this year for my dance classes/ performances. I think I will focus more on this the next year. I usually, don't post my personal dance photos on my blog, but let this be an exception as this is the end of the year :-)

3. India trip

I am grateful to GOD that I could visit my parents after 2 years and I am happy to make them feel happy too. Fortunately, we went to Shirdi with my extended family and we could spend more time. Kids enjoyed the trip a lot and time just flew by.

4. Learning curve

I could spend more time learning new technologies and refreshing my existing skills in 2018. I am grateful to the online resources and fantastic websites which helped me with this. I understood completely on how online resources can help in improving our knowledge. I think, if we have internet, we can learn anything these days.

5. Blogging

There are ups and downs in my blogging work this year. I got the opportunity to read multiple blogs through Blog chatter's My Frind Alexa campaign.  My Global Alexa rank went from 36 lakhs to 8 lakhs. I really enjoyed writing fiction for a challenge conducted by Write Tribe. These 2 challenges helped me to write consistently on my blog for some time.

Overall 2018 is a fantastic year to me, but it's time to say a Goodbye now.  I will re-connect with you all with another post on my word of the year for 2019.

Until next time,

Review Of Premium Baby Wipes Launched By Mother Sparsh #UnscentedWaterWipes #MedicalGradeFabric #SuperThickwaterWipes #SensitiveWipes

Every mother chooses the best and safest option for her child. Recently, Mother Sparsh has come up with the new premium variant of wipes which are 99% pure baby wipes. These wipes were the best wipes I have ever used as they are Unscented, super thick and sensitive baby wipes. Mother Sparsh water wipes are also biodegradable in nature which I think is the best part of it.

Here is my detailed product review of Mother Sparsh unscented wipes:-

Fragrance:

The newly launched Mother Sparsh baby wipes are fragrance-free.

It is shocking to know that other baby wipes brands add chemicals to keep them soft, to prevent bacteria growth and to give them fragrance. Phenoxyethanol is added in most of the baby wipes to give them fragrance. Some of the wipes tested by researchers found malic acid or tocopherol acetate or propylene glycol which are harmful and might create irritation to baby's skin, eyes, and lungs.

But, Mother Sparsh unscented baby wipes are free from these kinds of harsh chemicals.

Extra thickness:

Baby wipes should be soft and gentle on the skin but if they are not thick, they tear off easily. The #SuperThickWaterWipes from Mother Sparsh are strong as well. These unscented baby wipes are made with medical grade fabric. These cottony cloth/ fabrics will help in cleaning the baby's skin in a gentle way. Moreover, the fabric is 3 times thicker than other baby wipes, which is great.

Packaging:

If the packaging is good, it is easy to store and take off the wipes easily with one hand. The pack of 72 baby wipes comes with a plastic lid now so that the moisture content is retained inside.

Environment-friendly:
Mother Sparsh is doing its part for the environment by producing 100% biodegradable wipes. Since we use a lot of wipes in the first 6 months of the newborn, using a biodegradable product is definitely helpful for the environment.

Here is the link to buy Mother Sparsh's #ExtraThickBabyWipes which are #UnscentedWaterWipes.

Ingredients:

Mother Sparsh baby wipes are free from alcohol and parabens which are found in other baby wipes brands. So, they are completely safe for sensitive skin. The ingredients are purified water, jojoba oil, and aloe vera extracts.

What makes this product special?

1. Fragrance-free - thus, no chemicals added for fragrance
2. Extra thick fabric - these wipes are 3 times thicker compared to other wipes
3. Eco-friendly - these are 100% biodegradable
4. Plant-based fabric - the fabric is as good as cotton and water. It restores the baby's natural soft skin
5. Skin type - Good for sensitive skin/ gentle skin
6. Water-based wipes - 99% pure water wipes

Why do I recommend the brand 'Mother Sparsh'?

The reason is simple. These wipes are safe and effective than any other baby wipes. I liked the concept of the brand which says - cleaning is not the only important aspect of baby wipes but health concern is also a priority. Mother Sparsh hypoallergenic (non - allergenic) wipes are safe to use and free from harmful chemicals like paraben and alcohol. Of course, these prevent the diaper rash as well.

If you are still thinking on how safe it is to use baby wipes containing alcohol and other chemicals, switch to this brand without fear. Also, let me know how you like the brand.

Until next time,

5 Winter activities to enjoy in Colorado

I was on a blogging break for sometime, but I cannot miss this post in Winter. Being a resident of Colorado state, I feel, winter is the most happening season here with skiing, snow tubing, snowmobile, and other fun winter activities.

winter activities in Colorado

Don't worry about the cold weather out there! Plan proper winter wear with layering, winter jackets, gloves, thermals, use hand and toe warmers, choose woolen socks and snow boots, grab a good scarf, cover your ears and jump in! I assure you 100% family fun in the below activities.

Skiing:

Colorado is famous as good skiing destination with many ski resorts which offer family fun. Copper mountain and Monarch mountain seem to top the list when it comes to skiing for beginners and at the intermediate level. Many resorts offer classes to kids as well. Keystone resort, Resorts at Vail, Breckenridge and Aspen are famous for their luxury accommodation and best facilities. Check this article on the best ski resorts in Colorado.

Snow tubing:

Your family can never forget snow tubing experience easily. Kids and adults can enjoy tubing equally. We tried tubing at Saddleback ranch in Steamboat Springs, which was a great experience. I heard, Winter Park, Fraser Tubing Hill, and Frisco are also famous for tubing. Check this link to get more information on tubing hills in Colorado.

Check my travelogue on Steamboat Springs.

Sledding:

This is one of the fun family activities in the snow. Riding on Dog sleds, watching the vast expanse of land blanketed in snow is wonderful, especially during afternoon/evenings.

Ice Skating:

I haven't tried ice skating yet, but I heard it is a fantastic activity to enjoy as a family together. There are a lot of indoor skating rinks as well in Colorado. Many resorts offer skating classes for both adults and kids.

Snowmobiling:

We tried snowmobiling in Steamboat Springs with kids. It might be difficult with kids, but fun is guaranteed. Watching the snow on all sides riding on a snowmobile through ups and downs, it felt like there is no greenery at all. It felt like riding in a snow ocean. If you have more time and patience, your family should try this for sure.

In addition to all these activities, take long drives (be safe while roads are slippery), soak in hot water springs, drink hot chocolate, take gondola rides and experience the beautiful views of snowy mountains.

I love the winters for all these activities and the beauty of nature even though there is extreme cold out there. How do you like winters? What family activities do you prefer in winter? Do let me know in comments.

Until next time,

My Review

This is a good time to read a Christmas story, Isn't it? My 4-year-old son wants to read a Christmas story and this book has come to me at right time.

The story is about a lovely pet dog Scampy Doodle, who like every other kid is waiting ready to receive presents from Santa. Scampy keeps a plate of carrots for the Reindeer and a drink for Sata Claus before the night of Christmas.

Scampy is a kind and helpful dog who gives her collar to the reindeer and offers dog biscuits to the reindeer.

This is a quick read as the book has only 20 pages. The illustrations of the dog, reindeer, and Santa are good. A sweet little story about Christmas for the little ones. The book cover is great and apt. Scampy looks adorable for kids.

My Rating: 4/5

Ps: I have received this book from the author through Authoright in exchange for a review and this is my honest opinion on the book.

Author Information
As my daughter got older we used to (and still do) tell each other stories in the car about our family dog Scamp. Scamp had been neglected as a puppy and was rescued by my parents and became our family pet.

He was a little bit crazy (he used to try and get up on the table to lick up crumbs after a meal) but he was always happy to see you and always there for a cuddle whenever anyone needed one.

In many ways he was more like a human being, standing up on his back legs, drinking cups of tea out of a cup off the coffee table.

So I decided to write some of our stories down to share with others, the first one being Scampy Doodle and the Reindeer.

About the Author

Almost as soon as Devika Fernando could write, she imagined stories and poems. After finishing her education in Germany and returning to her roots in Sri Lanka, she got a chance to turn her passion into her profession. Having lived in Germany and in Sri Lanka with her husband has made her experience the best (and the worst) of two totally different worlds – something that influences her writing. Her trademark are sweet, yet deeply emotional romance stories where the characters actually fall in love instead of merely falling in lust. She draws inspiration from everyone and everything in life. Besides being a romance novel author, she works as a self-employed German web content writer, as a translator, and as a faithful servant to all the cats, dogs, fish and birds in her home. What she loves most about being an author is the chance to create new worlds and send her protagonists on a journey full of ups and downs that will leave them changed. When she’s not writing, she’s reading or thinking about writing.

Information about the Book
Title: The Adventures of Billy Bog Brush: The Fire Brigade
Author: Ian Campbell & Tim Constable
Release Date: 4th December 2018
Genre: Picture Book
Page Count: 26
Publisher: Clink Street Publishing

My Review

This picture book is about an adventure that Billy takes to save the grandson of Mrs. Brown whose house is caught with fire. It is not an easy feat for Billy to squeeze through the cat flap, climb the pole and do a big jump to reach for the house key. But, Billy does it with confidence and with a positive spirit. He could save Tommy at the right time.

This story is good to read for children above 5 years of age. The illustrations are great and the narration is interesting. My 7 yr old son loved to listen how Billy encourages himself that he can do it while climbing the poles and stairs even though it is a tough job for a person of his build. The character of Billy is different with a brush head, which is kind of funny too.

A bonus point of the book is the empty pages at the end with questions about the book to draw and explain. My Sons love drawing and of course fire trucks. So, they enjoyed this part.

I recommend this book to motivate kids that they can try and achieve their dreams even when it's tough for them.

The only drawback I see is the multi-line paragraphs which are not suitable to read kids below 5-year-olds. Fewer words might have been better for younger kids. The Book cover might have been bright, as it looked dull with more white color.

My Rating : 4.5/5

PS: I have received this book from the author in exchange for a review and this is my honest opinion of the book.
