Top 5 things to do in Hyderabad

I have been in this city since 8 years, but couldnt roam well or visit many places. From everything that I saw / experienced in this city, here are the top 5 things I love in Hyderabad.

1. Don't miss The famous Dum-ki-Biryani

Most of you might know this already that Hyderbad is famous for mutton -dum-ki-biryani, basmati rice cooked with spices and mutton. Paradise and Bavarchi are considered the best restaurants for non veg biryani and since I am a vegeteria, I love veg biryani from Alpha hotel, Secunderabad.

2. Visit historic places

There are many historic places in the city, starting from Charminar, Golkonda, Taramati Bardari, Qutub shahi tombs, Chowmahalla palace, Taj Falaknuma palace etc., If you have more time and patience and if you are a history lover and love to know the heritage of the city, you will enjoy the best.

3. Taste the World famous Haleem

I am a vegeterian and I never tasted this. But, heard that Hyderabadi Haleem is very tasty that it gets exported to foreign countries as well. Haleem is a stew composed of meat, lentils and pounded wheat made into a thick paste. It is usually prepared in ramzaan month. It was originally a Arab dish and might have been introduced by Nizams to the city.

4. Drive on Necklace road

It is a wonderful experince to drive on Necklace road and enjoy boating till Budha statue. Hussain sagar stinks to some extent which is the only problem. Also, visit to Birla mandir temple and planetorium is a must.

5.  Go for Shopping

With rich heritage and culture, you can guess how it would be to shop in Hyderabad. I am not very much into shopping, but I know some good places to shop in Hyderabad. Laad bazaar near Charminar is famous for bangles, pearls and artifical jewellery. Koti, Sultan Bazaar, Badichowdi, Begum bazaar etc, are some more places to visit for shopping.

Linking this to Friday Reflections hosted by Mackenzie and Janine every friday.

Writing this post for the prompt 'What are the top 5 things to do in the city you live?'

There are many more places that I love in Hyderabad like Shilparama, Durgam cheruvu, Gandipet Lake, Lumbini park, Inorbit mall etc., saving them for the next time :-)

Until next time,

Hyderabad is a lovely city. Unfortunately, I have only been on one-day business trips there. I did take time off on one trip to sample the city's world famous biryani though. I think it was Paradise that my office people took me to:)
